Katie was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio and is a graduate of Wittenberg University, where she received a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. Katie moved to the beautiful state of Colorado in 2007 and pursued a masters degree in Social Work. She quickly realized that working with individuals to find peace, health, and healing through building a therapeutic relationship was her calling. Since graduating in 2012, Katie has had therapeutic experience working in a variety of settings including school-based clinics, transitional housing and pediatric primary care.
Katie is the proud owner and primary clinician at Heartwork Counseling, LLC. and is excited to be partnering with Denver West Pediatrics to provide mental health care. At DWP she works with youth 12 years and up who may be seeking relief from a variety of symptoms and struggles. Through mental health therapy, Katie uses evidence-based practices to help focus on the empowerment and understanding of a positive sense of self through exploring family dynamics, trauma histories and personal belief systems.
In her free time you can find Katie spending time chasing her family down the ski slopes, hiking through the woods and sleeping in tents! She also enjoys spending time with friends, going to live music and releasing creative energy through sewing and crafting.
